about Jim

Jim, like so many, took up bird photography in 2020 while out walking with his wife Barbara and Bernese Mountain Dog “Diefenbaker”. During their walks along the Etobicoke Creek Trail, Jim and Barbara were immediately attracted to the resident Great-blue Herons and the many interesting birds he hadn’t noticed before.

Before taking up bird and wildlife photography, Jim was an age-group endurance and ultra-endurance athlete, and is a three-time Ironman finisher and two-time Boston Marathoner. In the fall of 2022, Jim was forced to retire and hung up his race belt after completing the 2023 Boston Marathon and hasn’t looked back since.

Jim is now looking to expand as a wildlife photographer and capture images of mammals and going beyond what lies in his region and province. Experimenting with different artistic approaches and compositions in his wildlife photography has become Jim’s new passion.
