Wild West: May 12-19, 2024

This past May, Barbara and I headed to Wyoming, or as we call it, the “Wild West”, for our first ever visit to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Both are simply magical places and we saw many, many firsts. We landed in Salt Lake City, Utah and picked up our campervan for our one week adventure! Van-life was a great experience I highly recommend.

During our visit to Grand Teton we saw the most famous Grizzly Bear in the world, Grizzly 399 and her yearling cub some have dubbed “Spirit"” in our first ever bear jam! Grizzly 399 is a 28 year old grizzly bear sow who gave birth to her latest in a long line of cubs in 2023 at the age of 27!

On our first full day in Yellowstone we saw a pack of wolves from a neighbouring area take down a “red dog” (bison calf) in Lamar Valley. Definitely an honour and privilege to witness the rawness of the circle of life!

We ate breakfast overlooking amazing views and watched the sunrise almost everyday as we felt blessed to be in such an amazing place.

I’ve posted some of my favourite photos and have them broken down into each of the days of our amazing adventure.

I hope you enjoy them.
